Reno Your Marketing Plan

I know it’s already been said, but 2020 was a long year. For most, it was the longest you’ve stayed in your house - with literally nowhere to go. People tried all kinds of things to stay busy. We rode bikes, bought puzzles, gardened - you name it, we tried it. Because, why the heck not? Aside from the many, many hobbies we tried - I think it’s safe to say that we always came back to ‘ol faithful. By ‘ol faithful, I of course mean the various streaming platforms. Netflix, Hulu, HBO Max - they all had our back during this serious period of downtime.

Whatever you chose to binge during quarantine, i’d be willing to bet that at least one home improvement show was thrown into the mix. How could it not be? The transformations are insane, the premise - usually highly unrealistic and the outcome? SO satisfying. After watching my fair share of these shows, I began to wonder… Why is it that we are so anxious to transform our homes, yet so hesitant to transform other parts of our lives. Take, for example, your business plan.

We all know that times change. For a while, the only way to get your business seen was through print. Then, we moved into radio, TV, etc, etc. The point being, times change and we need to also in order to keep our businesses at the forefront. Influencer Marketing, while not necessarily a new concept, is constantly evolving. The good news is that it continues to evolve to better suit social media, society and business owners. It’s these changes, however, that seem to keep many business owners hesitant about incorporating it into their marketing plan.

While quarantine is over and things are slowly getting back to, dare I say, normal, the COVID crisis forever changed many things. People are shopping online more than ever, they are looking to social media to connect when they can’t always do so in person, they are adjusting to a post-pandemic life. If you ask me, this is the perfect and necessary time to think about taking your business plan through demo day. Take some time to truly see what’s working and, more importantly, what’s not. It may be time to pull that on-going print ad that you’ve run every year and put some of that money into social media advertising. Maybe a booth at a local festival isn’t pulling the crowd it once was. That money can be spent on an Influencer who will inevitably help you tap an entire new audience. Change is happening, whether you jump onboard or not.

Renovations aren’t always pretty. They are scary and messy and sometimes, you likely wonder what you were thinking - after all, things were totally fine before. But, when you don’t settle for fine, you open the door to an incredible rehabilitation and results that you could have only dreamed.
