Cooling Off with Local Sweets!

It’s summer. In most states across the country, that means warm temps, sunshine, vacations, etc. In Florida, it means sweltering heat, unpredictable, fierce afternoon storms and no time to vacation because everyone else vacations here. That being said, us Floridians have learned to truly love the town we’re in. We find the places we love and we stick with them and love to share them with visitors.

Here on our blog, we’ve shared some of our favorite Valentine’s Day sweets, Taco Tuesday hot spots and lots of other local businesses. Now that summer is officially upon us, it’s time to share some sweet treats that will cool you down on these sweltering Florida days.

The Hyppo

The Hyppo makes delightful all-natural ice pops from everything under the sun, and over 450 flavors later, we're still going!

They use only the freshest fruit they can find. That means the only time their fruit is frozen is when it becomes an Ice Pop. Flash Frozen with locked in freshness... Does it get any better than that?

As the seasons change, so do Hyppo flavors! With Strawberry Season here in Florida, Summer Watermelons to Pumpkin Pie in the fall, we keep the goodness coming all year round.

Peace Pie

Peace Pie began Thanksgiving night 2010, over a delicious batch of pie filling and a forgotten pie crust. Jerry Klause, founder and creator, baked the pie filling and two giant shortbread cookies, then combined it all in layers with vanilla ice cream. He served a Pecan Pie Lasagna for dessert and it was a hit with the whole crowd. The following summer, The Klause family started Peace Pie, The Ice Cream Sandwich with a Layer of Pie Filling!

Their sweet and chewy waffles are made in-house from dough filled with Belgian pearl sugar, then cooked and caramelized fresh to order on a hot cast iron press.

Their rich, thick milkshakes start with dense housemade soft-serve ice cream, then get blended with a whole range of homemade goodies and topped with fresh whipped cream.
